Before long, they found themselves soaking in a warm, bubbly beer bath, in a small Polish mountain town, sipping on unlimited pints of cold brew. This combined so many things they are passionate about – wellness, craft beer, and hospitality – and it was executed in a truly unique way.
They also couldn’t help but notice something powerful during their travels: around the world, spa culture is deeply social. In places like Budapest, Seoul, and Tokyo, friends and families gather at public bathhouses and wellness centers—not just to unwind, but to connect. They eat, drink, laugh, and relax together in beautiful, restorative spaces designed for everyday people... not just the healthy and wealthy like in the U.S.
From jjimjilbangs in South Korea, to onsens in Japan, and thermal baths in Hungary, these experiences are woven into the fabric of daily life. Yet in the U.S., this kind of communal wellness culture has largely faded or never fully existed.
Inspired by these traditions, Damien and Jessica envisioned something new: a modern, social spa experience that blends global wellness rituals with the laid-back charm of craft beer culture. Oakwell Beer Spa was born from this vision—to bring people together in a space that’s both rejuvenating and refreshingly fun.
